Launching of Scarfs and Shirts with the logo" Help Fight cancer"








A talent show was arranged by the student society of helping hands on the 24th of Feb 2010 for fundraising.

Students members of "Helping Hands for Cancer Patients"(HHFCP) came up with the innovative idea of designing shirts and scarfs with the logo "help fight cancer".
the aim was to promote the spirit of goodwill for needy cancer patients and to generate valuable funds.
The manufacturing cost of the products was arranged by Dr Syed Muslim Abbas , Shifa Umer and Obaid Ashraf from generous donors.


The preparations required hard work and commitment which was displayed by the relentless efforts of the member students.
The show comprised of musical performances, drama's ,skits, and awareness generating videos of needy cancer patients who were facing the physical, mental, social and financial constrains of this menacing ailment.
There was active involvement and participation of the students and faculty of Community Health Sciences SCM, in making this event a great success.

The advisory board of HHFCP (Dr Ali Yawar Alam, Dr Syed Muslim Abbas and Dr Mohammad Raess mailik) would like to congratulate and acknowledge the altruistic efforts of the student managing committee of this event, which include shifa umer, obaid ashraf, harris ali arshad, uzair mushahid, meherunnisa asif khan, nur un nisa nabil, khadija ranjha, komal naz, shireen, asad mehmood, naaba saeed, nayab dar,kushbakht tanveer, nafeesa hiba,zahra khan, umer farooq,maryam akram,abdullah wali, khansa qadeer, joshua, khadeeja khan, saad hameed niazi, sehr rana and rajeel imran.

Fund Raising in 3rd Islamic International Conference


Under the supervision of Dr Ali Yawar Alam and Dr Syed Muslim Abbas(the advisors of Helping Hands For Cancer Patients) students of Shifa College of Medicine arranged a book stall
in the 3rd International Islamic Conference(6,7th feb 2010) for fundraising.
Harris ali arshad, Meherunnisa Asif khan, Qurat ul ain, Nayab Dar, Uzair Murshid and Khansa Qadeer were the students who were actively involved in managing and organizing the book stall.
The aim of Helping Hands For Cancer Patients has always been to avail every opportunity to inculcate the spirit of fundraising for the 'Needy Cancer Patients' and to educate the masses regarding Cancer.

Movie event for fund raising(Helping Hands For Cancer Patients)


A Fund Raising activity was carried out in the form of a Movie Show at Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad, on the 15th of December 2009 by Dr Syed Muslim Abbas, Dr Raees Malik and Dr Ghulam Mustafa under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Ali Yawar Alam Community Health Sciences.
The funds raised by the entry tickets were all directly transfered to the account of Helping Hands for Cancer Patients Shifa Foundation Falahee Clinic by Dr Ali Yawar Alam the founder and the inspiration behind this event.
The show was enjoyed by both the faculty and students of SCM, and they appreciated the spirit behind the event.

U.B.L health awareness and fund raising program(Helping Hands For Cancer Patients)











A health awareness and funding raising conference was conducted at U.B.L Cantt Branch Rawalpindi on the 11th of December 2009 by Dr Syed Muslim Abbas under the supervision and guidance of Dr Ali Yawar Alam, Associate Professor Community Health Sciences SCM. There was active participation of the U.B.L Staff in this noble event. The aim was to involve and educate the corporate section of the society reagarding cancer and to raise valuable funds for the needy cancer patients. Interactive Discussion was carried out by Dr Ali Yawar Alam and Dr Muslim Abbas to the young officers and senior staff of U.B.L.
Special emphasis was laid on the possible Prevetive measures and early signs and symptoms of cancer.
After the Session a question/answer session was held in which important information was exchanged.In the end membership forms were distributed among the staff and valuable funds were collected forthe needy cancer patients. The Regional Cheif Syeda Sanjeela and Vice President Syed Shafqat Ali were convinced by this health awareness and fundraising pragram conducted in their illustrious organisation and insisted for further health awareness lectures in the near future.

Funds Needed for a 6 year old child with Lymphatic Leukaemia

Helping Hands For Cancer patients has helped in the management of a 6
year old child with Lymphatic Leukaemia, admitted at Shifa Foundation Falahee Clinic.
We are in need of more funds, as the child's parents cannot afford treatment.

Cancer Awareness School Health Education Program


A health education program was organized by the community health sciences section, SCM regarding cancer awareness among school children. Our message pertains to early diagnosis and prompt treatment of cancer. Our vision is to target different school/ colleges of Pakistan, including the educational institutes of rural areas. The first school we visited is city school capital campus Islamabad.

A presentation was given by Dr. Ali Yawar Alam, associate Professor CHS, SCM.
Children were sensitized with recent statistics of incidence and prevalence of different types of cancers in Pakistan.

Special focus was set on screening people with early signs and symptoms of cancers.
Students were given basic background knowledge to screen high risk individuals and to guide them to get immediate treatment.
In the end of the session membership forms were filled by volunteering students to join “helping hands for cancer patients”
